Visitors from EU countries don´t need a visa for a stay up to 90 days. The passport must be valid for 6 months.
The normal vaccinations such as tetanus, polio etc. should be up to date. Malaria is found only in some regions (Mpumulanga/Kruger National Park, Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal, Kalahari). The local currency ist the South African Rand (R 1 = 100 cents, the present exchange rate you will find here), which exchanges with the major international currencies. You can change without problems at the airport or in almost all credit institutes. Traveller Checks and credit cards are accepted all over. Foreign tourists can have their VAT (14 %) refunded at the point of departure, provided they present original tax invoices.
